Brazil's Congress and Government Advance Infrastructure Investment Plans

Deputy Ismael Alexandrino (PSD) said the Brazilian Congress must simplify regulations and provide clear, enforceable rules to unlock billions of private investments in logistics. Speaking at the Centro-Oeste Export forum in Rio Verde, he highlighted the role of the mixed parliamentary front FRENLOGI in promoting public‑private partnerships, long‑term planning for transport, energy and mining projects, and reducing the "Cost Brazil" by improving rail and multimodal networks.

Guilherme Sampaio, director‑general of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), reported that the federal government is studying a dedicated annual infrastructure budget of roughly R$ 20 billion, with a focus on expanding the rail network. The proposal, under discussion by the Transport and Finance ministries, aims to earmark concession fees and contract revenues for rail and road projects, accelerate upcoming auctions, and renegotiate existing concessions to speed up investment. Both officials stressed that these reforms will continue despite the approaching election cycle.
