Brazil's Culture Ministry establishes governance commission and launches Central-West Rouanet fund

The Ministry of Culture (MinC) installed the Tripartite Intergovernmental Commission (CIT) of the National Culture System, appointing 30 members—15 titular and 15 substitutes—from the federal, state and municipal levels. Minister Margareth Menezes highlighted the commission as a step toward democratic, collaborative management of cultural policies and resources, aiming to prevent duplication and direct funding more effectively to states and municipalities.

MinC also announced the Rouanet Centro‑Oeste program, set to debut on 15 June. The initiative allocates R$5 million for projects in the Federal District and a total of R$29 million across the Central‑West states, backed by partners including Banco do Brasil, Caixa, Petrobras and others. The program seeks to broaden access to cultural investment and strengthen local cultural agents in the region.
