Brazil's CURTA! Festival and Portugal's Prémios Curtas Highlight New Short-Form Series

The CURTA! Festival 2026 in Brazil offers two documentary series for free streaming and public voting until 30 June. "Fronteiras da Memória" (directed by Stela Grisotti) examines how Argentina, Brazil and Chile confront the legacy of their dictatorships, while "Homens Sem Lei" (directed by José Francisco Tapajós) investigates the 1960s Rio de Janeiro Scuderie Le Cocq criminal organization. Viewers can watch the series on the festival platform and vote for finalists.

In Portugal, Canal Q will resume broadcasting the Prémios Curtas series from 3 July, presenting award‑winning Portuguese short films each week. The July lineup includes "Umbral" (Miguel Andrade), "00:00 MEIA‑NOITE" (Ana Luís Quintão & Filipa Pereira Pinto), "O Procedimento" (Chico Noras), "Sensible Soccers: Manoel" (David Matias & Vasco Gil) and "Uma Mulher do Género" (Raquel de Lima). The initiative aims to bring Portuguese short‑form cinema to a wider audience.
