Brazil's delivery sector reaches R$ 167 billion in 2025

The delivery sector in Brazil generated R$ 167 billion in 2025, representing 0.70% of the national GDP, according to data from the Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas (Fipe). The figures were presented during the iFood Move event, which addressed topics such as logistics, artificial intelligence, and changing consumer behavior.

Despite the sector's economic weight, many restaurants face operational challenges. A survey by the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel) indicates that delivery apps account for an average of 58% of sales for bars and restaurants. However, 78% of establishments use the same production line for both dine-in customers and delivery orders, often leading to bottlenecks.

Research shows that 33% of establishments are experiencing operational saturation, and 35% report a loss in service quality during peak hours, with delivery being the most impacted channel. Furthermore, 69% of these businesses do not use specific systems to organize kitchen activities, relying instead on manual records or personal experience.
