Brazilian delivery sector economic performance
Overview
The Brazilian delivery sector generated R$ 167 billion in 2025, accounting for 0.70% of the national GDP according to data from the Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas (Fipe).
While the sector holds significant economic weight, many restaurants face operational difficulties. A survey by the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel) found that delivery apps represent an average of 58% of sales for bars and restaurants. However, 78% of these establishments use the same production line for both dine-in and delivery orders, which often creates bottlenecks.
Research indicates that 33% of establishments are experiencing operational saturation, and 35% report a loss in service quality during peak hours, with delivery being the most impacted channel. Additionally, 69% of these businesses do not use specific systems to organize kitchen activities, relying instead on manual records or personal experience.
