Brazil's Detran-BA launches online vehicle auctions across 23 cities

The Department of Transit of Bahia (Detran-BA) is conducting public online auctions of 2,395 vehicle and motorcycle lots in 23 municipalities, including Salvador, Jacobina, Lauro de Freitas and others. The auctions will be held online from 9 a.m. each day, with participation open to individuals and companies that meet the edital requirements. Full listings, dates and payment terms are posted on the Detran-BA portal and the accredited auctioneers’ websites, and the agency warned the public about fraudulent “fake” auction sites.

Across Brazil, additional auctions are scheduled for 21‑27 June, featuring cars and motorcycles repossessed by banks, insurers and financial institutions in São Paulo, Goiás, Paraná, Ceará, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais and other states. Buyers can acquire vehicles at prices well below market value, but they assume all risks, including lack of warranty, inspection limitations and additional fees such as a 5 % auctioneer commission and administrative charges. The listings are available through platforms such as Sodré Santoro, Vip Leilões and Copart.
