Brazil's Digital CNH App Lets Drivers Check Fines and Points on Mobile
The Detran-MG portal and the nationwide CNH do Brasil mobile app now allow drivers in Brazil to view traffic infractions, generate payment slips and check accumulated demerit points directly from a smartphone, eliminating the need to visit a physical office. Users access the service through the Gov.br account, select the vehicle by entering its license plate or Renavam, complete a captcha and view a detailed list of violations with options to pay.
The digital CNH has the same legal validity as the paper licence and works offline after the initial download. Activation requires a Gov.br account at the Silver or Gold level and identity verification via facial recognition, a digital certificate, or in‑person Detran validation. Once activated, the app also enables drivers to indicate another person as the actual driver of a violation, transferring points to that driver’s record within the app’s deadline.
These features aim to streamline traffic‑law compliance, reduce administrative visits and improve the user experience for motorists across Brazil, including the state of Minas Gerais.
