Brazil's Education Ministry extends Enem fee deadline and reports 99.5% Sisu+ enrollment

The Ministry of Education (MEC) and the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (Inep) announced that the payment deadline for the 2026 Enem registration fee of R$ 85 has been extended to Monday, 22 June. Candidates without an exemption may settle the fee via banks, lottery houses, banking apps or Pix using the QR code on the payment guide; cash deposits, transfers or payment orders are not accepted. Registration confirmation depends on payment within the new deadline. Exemptions apply to students in public schools, participants in the Pé-de-Meia program, low‑income applicants registered in CadÚnico, and those who completed all secondary schooling in public schools or as full‑scholarship holders in private schools, as well as CadÚnico users applying for an Enem certificate.

In a separate announcement, MEC released the results of the regular call of Sisu+ 2026, the new complementary phase of the Unified Selection System. Of the 9 436 vacancies offered by 34 public higher‑education institutions, 99.51% were filled, with 132 488 candidates submitting 236 804 applications (each applicant could choose up to two courses). The state of Paraíba led admissions with 1 775 approved candidates, followed by Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Ceará and Rio Grande do Sul. The most contested courses were law, administration and civil engineering. The program aims to increase access to higher education and streamline vacancy allocation for public institutions.
