Brazil's Education Ministry launches app and videocast for Pé‑de‑Meia program

The Ministry of Education (MEC) held a live event on 2 July to launch a new mobile application and the online "Consulta Pé‑de‑Meia" portal for school managers. The tools give directors, coordinators and secretaries access to individual student data by CPF and school‑level indicators, aiming to improve decisions on attendance, permanence and dropout prevention in public high‑school education.

On 3 July, MEC released the third episode of its PODMEC videocast, explaining how the Pé‑de‑Meia cash‑saving program works. The episode highlighted that more than 7.2 million students have benefited, noting a significant reduction in high‑school evasion. It detailed the incentive amounts, direct payment to students, and the program’s role in supporting financial autonomy, ENEM preparation and university access.

Both initiatives are part of MEC’s effort to increase data‑driven management and public awareness of the Pé‑de‑Meia program, which seeks to keep students in school and improve educational outcomes across Brazil.
