Brazil's Enem 2026 Registers Over 5 Million Candidates

The 2026 edition of Brazil's National High School Examination (Enem) confirmed 5,055,818 registrants, the highest total since 2022 and a 47.1% rise over that year. The surge is linked to the Ministry of Education’s automatic enrollment for public‑school seniors and the addition of 95 new municipalities, expanding access nationwide.

The exam will be held on 8 and 15 November in all Brazilian states and the Federal District. Candidates who had their requests for specialized assistance denied can appeal until 3 July, with results due 10 July. The specialized assistance program covers low vision, ADHD, pregnancy, physical disabilities and allows support persons or assistance dogs.

Enem remains the primary gateway to higher education in Brazil, feeding admissions to federal programs such as Sisu, Prouni and Fies, and also certifying high‑school completion for adults meeting the score threshold.
