Brazil's 2026 Election Outlook and Trade Challenges Highlighted in Expert Webinar
A free, Portuguese‑language webinar organized by the Brazil‑Florida Business Council will take place on 18 June at 18:00 BRT. The event, titled “Perspectives for Brazil in the First Semester: Forecasts and Analyses,” gathers international economists, trade specialists and political‑risk analysts to assess how Brazil’s 2026 presidential election could shape the country’s economic stability, foreign‑investment climate and export performance.
Panelists include former IMF, World Bank and IDB official Otaviano Canuto; former U.S. Trade Representative office director Kellie Meiman Hock; Eurasia Group Brazil head Silvio Cascione; and Inter‑American Dialogue Brazil program director Bruna Santos. Topics will cover Brazil’s competitiveness amid rising global trade tensions, the rise of “friendshoring” and “nearshoring,” the progress of the MERCOSUR‑EU agreement, and potential repercussions of the U.S. designation of Brazilian criminal groups as Foreign Terrorist Organizations.
The webinar reflects broader concerns highlighted in recent analyses that emphasize shifting geopolitical dynamics, increased protectionist policies and the need for Brazilian firms to navigate complex regulatory environments, logistical bottlenecks and legal uncertainty to remain competitive in international markets.
