Brazil's family agriculture fairs boost local producers in Goiás and Mato Grosso
On July 24 the Paço Municipal in Goiânia hosted the inaugural "Feira Sabores de Goiás" organized by Emater Goiás. The fair gathered producers from twelve municipalities, offering cheeses, yogurts, sweets, meat, breads, crafts and more. Organizers highlighted the event as a new strategy to connect farmers directly with consumers and to strengthen income for family agriculture, with plans to hold additional editions across the state.
Three days earlier, the Praça Alencastro in Cuiabá held the third July edition of its Gastronomic and Family Agriculture Fair. More than 50 vendors displayed fresh vegetables, fruits, regional dishes and handcrafted items, using a municipal app to link buyers with sellers. The municipal government promoted the market as a way to eliminate intermediaries, increase farm household earnings and showcase Mato Grosso’s rural products.
