Brazil's Federal District Fire Brigade Marks 170 Years as Goiás Unit Extinguishes Home Fire

On July 2, the Brazilian Congress held a solemn session to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the Federal District Military Fire Brigade (CBMDF). Senators Izalci Lucas, Humberto Costa and Deputy Alberto Fraga highlighted the corps' evolution, its social projects and the dedication of its 5,154 members, noting nearly 200,000 service calls last year. Lucas also used the occasion to push for PEC 01/2025, a constitutional amendment that would grant the Distrito Federal autonomy over its security forces' funding and personnel matters.

Two days later, on July 4, the Goiás State Military Fire Brigade (CBMGO) responded to a fire in a multi‑family residence in the Estância Itanhangá sector of Caldas Novas. The blaze, confined to a refrigerator, was extinguished with a hose line before it could spread. No injuries were reported, and authorities began inspecting the structure and advising the owner on safety measures while the fire’s cause remains under investigation.
