Brazil's Federal District launches housing registration portal for low‑income families

The Cadastro Habitacional is an online registration system that collects personal, family and economic data to determine eligibility for a range of Federal District housing assistance programmes. Registration is possible through a website or mobile app and allows applicants to track their status.

The portal supports several initiatives, including Morar Bem for low‑income families, Regulariza DF for land regularisation, Morar DF which provides a subsidy of R$ 17,153.61 for down‑payment or non‑financed portions, Melhorias Habitacionais for home improvements, and the Cartão Material de Construção offering up to R$ 15,000 for construction materials. Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old (or emancipated), have lived or worked in the Distrito Federal for the past five years, meet income limits, and not own any residential property in the area. Required documents include identification, CPF, civil‑status proof, income statements, dependents’ documents and residence proof, with additional paperwork for persons with disabilities, vulnerable families, or women affected by domestic violence. After completing the online form and uploading the documents, applicants can monitor the evaluation, which ranks candidates by residency time, family size, income and legal priorities. The registration can be cancelled after three refusals.
