Jair Bolsonaro’s registered firearms seized after federal search finds none at his home
On 8 July 2026 the Brazilian Federal Police carried out a search of former president Jair Bolsonaro’s residence in Brasília under a warrant issued by Supreme Court minister Alexandre de Moraes. Agents inspected the house for about 90 minutes and reported that no firearms, ammunition, accessories or registration documents were found. The operation was prompted by discrepancies between the number of weapons registered in Bolsonaro’s name and those actually delivered to authorities.
In a separate action the same day, the Federal Police seized the last remaining shotgun registered to Bolsonaro in Cachoeirinha, Rio Grande do Sul. The 12‑gauge Maestro Arms Company shotgun was recovered from the home of a man who voluntarily contacted the police to hand over the weapon, which had never left the donor’s premises. This seizure completes the collection of ten weapons previously linked to Bolsonaro, all now in Federal Police custody. The investigations follow earlier seizure of a pistol during a traffic stop and a court order that revoked Bolsonaro’s firearm registration and upheld his house arrest while he serves a 27‑year prison sentence.
