Brazil's Federal Police launch Operation Delivery targeting corruption in Murici public works

On July 28, the Brazilian Federal Police, supported by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) in Alagoas, initiated Operation Delivery to investigate alleged corruption and diversion of federal resources linked to municipal construction projects in Murici, Alagoas. The probe follows a November 2025 arrest of a man caught with R$270,000, which triggered inquiries into a scheme where public officials allegedly demanded kickbacks and privileged information to favor companies in contracts for school buildings and sports‑court renovations.

Six search and seizure warrants were carried out in Murici and the state capital Maceió, resulting in the confiscation of assets and cash amounting to R$1.301 million (including foreign currencies) and the suspension of the implicated municipal employees.

Investigators say the scheme involved municipal officials requesting bribes and receiving percentages of contract values in exchange for influencing bidding processes and providing insider data, effectively compromising the integrity of public works funded by the federal government.
