Brazil's Financial Regulation Focus: Simple Credit's Structured Payments and ICMS Tax Credit Probe

Simple Credit’s payment‑receiving system is built on a regulatory‑approved framework that includes BMP Money Plus Sociedade de Crédito Direto, an entity authorized by the Central Bank of Brazil to operate under the PIX system, and Grafeno Pagamentos Ltda., which provides digital billing and transfer services. The arrangement meets Central Bank, Conselho Monetário Nacional and anti‑money‑laundering requirements, offering clients documented transparency and legal certainty.

Separately, the São Paulo Inter‑institutional Committee for Asset Recovery launched Operation Distrato on 15 July to investigate the alleged sale of fraudulent ICMS tax credits. The probe, involving 38 search and seizure orders across São Paulo and Paraná, targets companies that used counterfeit credits to lower tax liabilities. Authorities warn that third‑party tax credits must be substantiated by proper documentation, legal origin and compliance with state tax rules before they can be transferred or utilized.
