Brazil’s fitness market sees major gym chain expansions

Selfit Academias announced a R$12 million investment to open three new gyms in Pernambuco, slated for the second half of 2026. The locations are in the Piedade district of Jaboatão dos Guararapes, a Carrefour on Avenida Domingos Ferreira in Boa Viagem, and the Cruz Cabugá area of Recife. The project is expected to create about 60 direct jobs, roughly 20 per facility, and will feature the chain’s latest layout with areas for cross‑training, group classes, cardio and weightlifting.

My Legacy Gym, backed by a R$5 million seed investment, opened its first club in the Vila Formosa neighborhood of São Paulo. The brand promotes an “accessible luxury” concept, offering traditional gym spaces plus wellness services such as physiotherapy, nutrition counselling and integrated technology, and operates 24 hours on weekdays. The company aims to roll out 50 clubs across Brazil within five years, targeting the growing demand for comprehensive health‑and‑fitness centers.
