Brazil fitness market emphasizes experience and modernising
Entities: Smart Fit · AABB Campina Grande · Luciana Sukys · Allan Ribeiro · Gustavo Boeira
Overview
Growth in Brazil’s fitness sector continued through late 2026, with the country now ranked second worldwide for the number of gyms. Diversified concepts—from Christian‑focused Sou Mais clubs to tech‑rich Force One locations and 24‑hour boutiques—remain popular, while functional training still leads activity preferences.
Consumer experience has become the sector’s primary competitive driver. An updated Eureka Comunicação study of 50 gyms in Goiânia found that quality of service, facility care and personalized attention now outweigh size or brand name. Flex Fitness Center led the ranking, and the report highlighted the rise of the “academias‑clube” model, where operators such as Les Cinq Gym, Six Wowness Club, Silva Gym and Aura Gym blend gym space with recovery rooms, nutrition services, coworking areas and premium lounges.
Major operators are also investing in modernisation. AABB Fit opened a refurbished campus in Campina Grande, adding Pilates, physiotherapy, a games hall and beach‑tennis courts. Smart Fit is expanding a 2,500‑sq‑m outlet in São José with a “Black Zone” recovery area, a “Glute Zone”, a café and outdoor sand courts, reflecting a broader move toward multifunctional, experience‑focused facilities.
Digital platforms link instructors, members and managers, delivering personalised periodisation and real‑time progress tracking that gyms say curb cancellations. Ultra Academia’s inclusive mascot campaign and research showing mascot‑driven marketing boosts profit probabilities illustrate the sector’s evolving branding tactics. Overall, the Brazilian fitness market is shifting from sheer expansion to a holistic, experience‑centred model that integrates wellness, community and technology.
