Brazil's Gaming Industry Expands Sevenfold Over Ten Years, Fueling Jobs and Exports
Over the past decade Brazil's video‑game sector has surged, growing roughly seven‑fold. The number of domestic studios rose from about 375 in 2018 to more than 1,000 by 2022, and the industry now moves billions of reais annually. The boom has created thousands of specialized jobs in areas such as design, programming, AI, and 3D modeling, while attracting both national and foreign investment.
Brazil has become the largest gaming market in Latin America and ranks among the ten biggest consumer markets worldwide. Beyond pure entertainment, the sector now embraces mobile gaming, live streaming, eSports and online betting platforms, all drawing a growing audience. Export activity has intensified, with many studios generating roughly 70 % of their revenue from overseas contracts and partnerships with companies in North America, Europe and Asia.
The rapid professionalisation of Brazilian game developers is reshaping the country's digital economy, positioning it as a notable player in the global creative‑tech landscape.
