Brazil's Gás do Povo program releases October gas vouchers
The Brazilian federal government has scheduled the release of the October 2026 benefits for the Gás do Povo program. Starting October 10, eligible low-income families can access vouchers for cooking gas (LPG) refills at accredited retailers. The benefit must be used by November 9, as it is not cumulative.
Replacing the previous Auxílio Gás, the current model provides physical refills for 13kg cylinders rather than cash transfers. The program serves over 14 million families, with eligibility determined by CadÚnico registration and a per capita monthly income of up to half a minimum wage.
Distribution frequency depends on household size: families with two or three members receive four refills per year (one every three months), while families with four or more members receive six refills per year (one every two months). Priority is given to households with two or more people already receiving Bolsa Família. Vouchers may be suspended if there are discrepancies in CadÚnico data or issues with the head of household's CPF at the Federal Revenue Service.
