Jair Bolsonaro's home‑detention visit ban sent to PGR for review FAST-MOVING
Supreme Court minister Alexandre de Moraes ordered the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGR) to give its opinion within five days on former president Jair Bolsonaro’s appeal against a ruling that bars him from receiving visits in his home‑detention cell for 30 days. The same ruling also prohibits Bolsonaro from using the internet, even through third parties, and from receiving any visits that have a political‑electoral purpose until the end of the elections. The measures were imposed after Senator Flávio Bolsonaro posted on social media a letter written by his father. Bolsonaro, sentenced to 27 years and three months for a coup‑plot case, is serving his term under humanitarian home detention following surgery for pneumonia. His lawyers argue the restrictions infringe on his constitutional freedoms of thought and expression. Under the current order, only medical staff, physiotherapists and lawyers may enter the residence.
