Brazil's K-Beauty market to hit $754 million as brands adapt Korean formulas
Brazilian brands are translating Korean skincare philosophy by using dermatologically backed actives such as centella asiatica, PDRN, snail mucin, tranexamic acid and alpha arbutin to suit local skin phototypes. Founder Gustavo Magalhães of Bearry Derm notes that formulas originally designed for lighter skin need adaptation for Brazil's higher phototypes.
Online interest has surged, with searches for “peeling coreano” up 150 % in 2025, “shampoo coreano” up 350 % and “máscara de colágeno coreana” up 300 % year‑on‑year. The Brazilian market for Korean‑inspired cosmetics is projected to reach US$754.8 million by 2032, growing at about 7.4 % annually.
Regulatory hurdles remain. ANVISA requires specific approval processes for unconventional actives, and product registrations such as sunscreens can take six to twelve months. Discussions between Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and ANVISA aim to streamline the pathway, following a recent 86.4 % rise in Korean cosmetics exports to Brazil, which totaled US$43.4 million in the first half of 2026, making Brazil the 28th largest destination.
