Brazil's LGBTQIA+ Coordination Joins National Policy Meeting and Diversity Festival in Fortaleza

The Coordenadoria de Promoção à Cidadania LGBT took part in the 6th Extraordinary Meeting of the National Intergestores Commission for LGBTQIA+ Policy (CNIP) in Fortaleza, Ceará, from 25 to 28 June. The meeting, coordinated by the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship, aims to review public policies for LGBTQIA+ communities across Brazilian municipalities. Coordinator Geraldo Filho said the gathering allows managers to share experiences and present initiatives from João Pessoa, adding that it is vital for a population that faces exclusion and prejudice.

The same coordination also participated in the 3rd Ceará Diversity Festival, which began on 27 June. The festival seeks to promote and strengthen the culture and creative economy of LGBTQIA+ people, coinciding with Pride Month and the observance of Pride Day on 28 June. Filho highlighted the event’s role in showcasing a productive cultural chain that energizes the city through artists working in various fields.
