Brazil's Lula administration issues decrees to regularize quilombola lands in Pará and Goiás

The federal government, led by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, signed three presidential decrees that declare areas of social interest for quilombola communities in the state of Pará. The measures benefit 488 families across 8,716 hectares in the communities of São Miguel Arcanjo de Nova Laudicéia, Santa Luzia and Tiningu.

In the state of Goiás, two property titles were delivered to quilombola groups, covering 888 families on 6,221 hectares in the Kalunga territory. The government also announced housing credit programs, allocating R$ 19.5 million for 200 homes in Kalunga and a total of R$ 35 million for 359 homes region‑wide. Nationwide, R$ 94 million has been provided for quilombola housing projects in 2026, with a target of R$ 113.5 million by year‑end.
