Brazil's Military Fire Brigades Train New Personnel and Boost Fire‑fighting Capacity

The Military Fire Brigade of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) held a graduation ceremony for a new cohort of soldiers trained as combatants, vehicle operators, artisans and trumpeters, expanding the corps' operational and administrative capabilities across the state.

In Mato Grosso, the Military Fire Brigade (CBMMT) began a 20‑hour technical re‑qualification for 17 soldiers who will support aerial operations against forest fires. The program includes ground‑logistics training for aircraft, safety protocols and the creation of temporary landing strips. The state also announced a R$ 32 million purchase of a high‑performance helicopter and a five‑month fire‑ban period from July to November 2026 to curb severe drought‑related burning.
