Rio Innovation Week 2026 draws 200,000 visitors to Pier Mauá
The Rio Innovation Week (RIW) 2026 will take place from 4 to 7 August at the Pier Mauá in Rio de Janeiro. Organisers expect more than 200 000 participants, including 30 country delegations, and forecast an economic impact of roughly R$ 156.2 million for the city.
The six‑day programme covers artificial intelligence, sustainability, the Blue Economy and other emerging technologies under the theme “Simbiose – the future does not happen in isolation”. Highlights include the Rio Sense Lab – an immersive neuro‑tech experience that records visitors’ reactions to Rio’s culture and landmarks – and a refreshed “No Clima da Inovação” campaign promoting the city as a hub of creativity and technology.
Pre‑event activities feature the Niterói Innovation Experience on 3 August, where local officials and innovators discuss smart‑city solutions. The Clean Up The World platform will host a sustainability debate on the “Blue Economy”, and the industry federation Firjan will present a agenda linking AI, biotech and circular economy to the region’s manufacturing sector.
