Brazil's Ministry of Education offers Enem exams in hospital settings

The Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) provides a hospital classroom option for students participating in the National High School Exam (Enem) who require long-term treatment or isolation due to health conditions. This allows students to take the exam in a hospital setting without the need for travel, ensuring safety and stability for patients.

To utilize this service, students must request special assistance during registration and provide a signed medical report with a diagnosis and justification for hospitalization. Additionally, the hospital must issue a declaration confirming the availability of adequate facilities to conduct the exam safely.

Approximately 50 candidates request hospital-based testing annually for reasons ranging from cancer treatment to transplants or conditions requiring immunosuppression. One student, Ana Clara Martinez, shared her experience using specialized accommodations such as enlarged text, a scribe, a reader, and extra time to assist with her visual impairment caused by an optic nerve tumor.
