Brazil's Ministry of Education opens instructor training for restorative practices

Brazil's Ministry of Education (MEC) has opened registration for the National Training of Instructors of Restorative Practices in Education. The program is being conducted through the Secretariat of Continuing Education, Youth and Adult Literacy, Diversity and Inclusion (Secadi/MEC) in partnership with the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS).

Part of the 'Escola que Protege' (School that Protects) program, the initiative aims to train professionals to implement restorative practices within public school networks. These practices focus on resolving conflicts through dialogue, active listening, and collaborative solutions rather than purely punitive measures, seeking to prevent violence and strengthen community relationships.

Registration is open until August 17, 2026. The online course, offered by UFS, will feature weekly meetings divided into four groups. The first two groups will meet between September and December 2026, while the remaining two will meet from January to April 2027. Eligible applicants include public education employees who hold certification as facilitators of Peace Circles and Restorative Justice.
