Brazil's Ministry of Education redistributes 937 professor positions to federal institutes

The Ministry of Education issued Portaria No. 657/2026, reallocating 937 teaching positions for basic, technical and technological education to 28 Federal Institutes across Brazil. The move supports the federal network’s expansion plan, which aims to add more than 100 new campuses nationwide. The largest share of the vacancies was assigned to the Federal Institute of Pará (IFPA).

All positions belong to the EBTT (Professor of Basic, Technical and Technological Education) career, Class A, Siape code 707001. Institutes will fill the posts through new public contests, reserve‑list appointments or by calling candidates already approved in existing selections, depending on budget availability and staff quotas. The decree was signed by Education Minister Leonardo Barchini Rosa and took effect upon publication in the Official Gazette.
