Brazil launches R$30 billion Move Brasil credit line for app drivers and taxi operators

On 19 June 2026 the federal government opened the Move Brasil programme, a credit line of up to R$30 billion managed by BNDES. The scheme offers financing for new vehicles worth no more than R$150 000 to ride‑share drivers, taxi drivers and delivery workers. Interest is fixed at 12.5 % per year (0.99 % per month for men, 0.91 % per month for women) with repayment periods of up to 48 months (some sources cite 72 months with a six‑month grace period).

Eligibility requires at least 12 months of active registration on a rides‑hailing platform and a minimum of 100 completed trips or deliveries. Around 740 000 professionals already meet the criteria. Two streams exist: Move Aplicativos for cars and Move Motos for motorcycles, e‑bikes and similar vehicles, all of which must be produced by manufacturers approved in the Mover programme and meet sustainability standards (flex, electric, hybrid‑ethanol). BNDES set aside at least R$3 billion each for women and for taxi drivers.

The government expects the programme to modernise the fleet, increase drivers’ earnings and stimulate the domestic automotive sector. Market analysts see a limited impact on vehicle‑rental firms but a positive boost for auto‑parts companies such as Iochpe‑Maxion, Mahle Metal Leve and Fras‑le, which could benefit from higher sales of new light vehicles.
