Brazil's Move Brasil program provides low‑interest vehicle credit to taxi and app drivers

The federal Move Brasil program makes up to R$30 billion available for low‑interest loans to Brazilian taxi drivers and drivers for ride‑hailing apps. Eligible participants must have an active registration of at least 12 months and have completed a minimum of 100 trips on the platform. Loans can finance new vehicles worth up to R$150 000 and cover flexible‑fuel, hybrid‑flex, electric and ethanol‑only models; gasoline‑ and diesel‑only cars are excluded.

Interest rates are capped at 11.5 % per year for women and 12.6 % per year for men, with repayment terms of up to six years and a possible six‑month grace period. No mandatory down‑payment is prescribed, though banks may set their own conditions. Drivers apply through the government portal (gov.br) and, after eligibility verification by the tax authority or ride‑hailing platforms, can seek financing from participating banks.

Automakers have responded with discounts of up to R$30 000 on selected models, such as the Jeep Compass Sport, Fiat Pulse, and several electric or hybrid vehicles from BYD, GWM and Geely, to attract qualified drivers.
