Brazil's National Residency Exam registers over 95,000 applicants

The 2026 edition of Brazil's Exame Nacional de Residência (Enare) recorded more than 95,000 registrations, including about 36,000 candidates for the Enamed assessment.

A total of 309 institutions participated – 218 public and 91 private – offering residency positions across a wide range of health professions such as biology, biomedicine, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dentistry, psychology and others.

The exam is organized by HU Brasil, the state-owned Empresa Brasileira de Serviços Hospitalares linked to the Ministry of Education, which manages 47 federal university hospitals in 25 states.
