Brazil's National Teacher Exam (PND) 2026 to be held this Sunday

The 2026 National Teacher Exam (PND) is scheduled to take place this Sunday across 806 cities in Brazil. An initiative of the Ministry of Education (MEC) supported by Inep, the exam aims to assist state and municipal governments in selecting qualified educators for public basic education.

For the 2026 edition, 625,954 candidates have registered. The exam features a 5.5-hour duration, consisting of 30 objective questions and one discursive question regarding general teaching formation, followed by 50 objective questions on a specific subject area. Candidates must present an official photo ID and use a black ink pen in a transparent material.

Participation in the PND is voluntary for federative entities. This year, 23 state education secretariats and 2,007 municipalities have joined the program, representing 85.19% of Brazil's states and a 33.09% increase in municipal participation compared to 2025. States such as Amazonas, Ceará, Goiás, and the Federal District have not yet confirmed state-level registration.
