Often referred to as the ‘Enem for Teachers,’ the assessment targets graduating students and graduates seeking to enter public basic education careers. For the 2026 edition, 625,954 candidates have registered. The exam is scheduled to take place across 806 cities and has a 5.5-hour duration. The structure includes 30 objective questions and one discursive question regarding general teaching formation, followed by 50 objective questions on a specific subject area. Candidates are required to present an official photo ID and use a black ink pen in a transparent material. Recent data indicates significant expansion in the program's reach. The 2026 edition has secured participation from 23 state education secretariats and 2,007 municipalities, representing 85.19% of Brazil's federative units and 36.03% of its total municipalities. This municipal participation marks a 33.09% increase compared to 2025. While most capitals are participating, Palmas is the only capital that will not adopt the PND for its teacher selection processes. Amazonas, Ceará, Goiás, and the Federal District have not yet confirmed state-level registration.
