Brazil's New Online Gambling Law Forces Operators to Adopt Transparent Bonus Terms
Effective 1 January 2025, Brazil’s Law No. 14.790/2023 restricts online casino operations to licensed providers that use ".bet.br" domains and certified software. The regulation requires operators to disclose clear bonus terms, including rollover requirements, maximum bet limits and validity periods, giving consumers contractual protection and the ability to contest ambiguous clauses.
The stricter framework raises compliance costs for gambling companies, which must invest in age‑verification, identity checks, secure transaction systems and responsible‑gaming tools such as spending limits and self‑exclusion. Enhanced digital‑security measures—encryption, multi‑factor authentication and robust data‑privacy practices—are becoming market differentiators. Over time, these investments are expected to boost consumer confidence, attract external investment, create jobs and stimulate growth in Brazil’s online gaming sector.
