Pé-de-Meia program issues student incentives in Brazil

The Brazilian federal government's Pé-de-Meia program, an educational savings initiative designed to reduce high school dropout rates, is releasing new installments to eligible students. For those born in September and October, payments are scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026.

Under the program, regular high school students receive R$ 200 per monthly attendance installment, with up to nine installments available annually. Students enrolled in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) follow a different structure, receiving up to four installments of R$ 225 each per cycle. To qualify for these payments, students must maintain a minimum school attendance of 80%.

Eligibility is restricted to public school students aged 14 to 24 who are registered in the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) and belong to families with an income of up to half a minimum wage per person. The Ministry of Education estimates the program has reached approximately 6 million students. Payments are managed through Caixa Econômica Federal, and beneficiaries can monitor their status via the Gov.br portal or the Caixa Tem app.
