Brazil's Paraná and Pará achieve over 93% household internet penetration

In 2025, 95.5% of households in Brazil's southern state of Paraná were connected to the Internet, up from 94.3% in 2024, covering 4.31 million homes and roughly 11.56 million people. Broadband dominates the market, with 99.8% of connected homes using it; 89.5% have fixed broadband, 87.9% have mobile broadband and 77.6% have both. The state government announced a partnership with Vivo to install 411 new antennas in 74 municipalities by 2027, investing R$192 million to extend mobile and broadband service to rural and remote areas.

In the northern state of Pará, 93.5% of homes now have Internet access, an increase from 61.1% in 2016, reaching about 2.6 million residences. Mobile phones are almost universal, present in 96.6% of households, while fixed-line telephones have nearly vanished. Television use is declining as streaming services grow, and only 25.7% of homes own a computer or tablet, highlighting the shift toward mobile-based connectivity.
