Brazil's President Lula delivers 384 homes in Bahia, authorizes 1,930 new units

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva visited Camaçari in Bahia on May 14 to hand over 384 apartments of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program at the Verdes Horizontes I and II residential complex. The units, each about 46 m² and valued at roughly R$ 169,400, will provide dignified housing for 1,536 people.

During the ceremony Lula said, "I know the pleasure of a person having a house and I know the anguish of not having one," underscoring the government's focus on affordable housing. He also signed a decree authorizing the construction of 1,930 additional homes across ten municipalities in Bahia, an investment of more than R$ 308 million. The project, funded by the Residential Leasing Fund (FAR) as part of the New PAC, includes community amenities such as a library, playground, outdoor gym and sports fields.

The delivery marks part of a broader effort in which the federal government has contracted over 106,000 housing units in Bahia, with 46,000 already delivered. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, citing relief from rent burdens and improved living conditions.
