Brazil's Receita Federal projects dividend tax revenue at R$ 17.2 bn, below budget

The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) announced that revenue from the income tax on dividends is expected to total R$ 17.2 billion for the year, roughly R$ 10.8 billion less than the original budget forecast of R$ 28 billion. The shortfall reflects lower-than-expected collections in the first half of the year, which amounted to only R$ 2.2 billion. The agency expects to collect an additional R$ 15 billion between July and December, but officials warned that the projection will be closely monitored.

Separately, Receita Federal opened the consultation for the third batch of individual income‑tax refunds for the 2026 filing year. About 2.74 million taxpayers will receive a total of R$ 4.61 billion on July 31, with allocations for non‑priority recipients, those using pre‑filled returns with Pix payments, and legally‑prioritized groups such as seniors and persons with disabilities. The third batch concludes the regular refund schedule for this filing year, leaving only pending cases caught in tax‑audit reviews or with banking‑data issues.
