Brazil's Receita Federal schedules third 2026 income‑tax refund tranche

The Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) announced that the third tranche of the 2026 income‑tax (IR) refunds will be paid on 31 July. Priority will be given to taxpayers aged 60 or older, people with disabilities or severe illnesses, teachers whose main income is from teaching, and those who filed a pre‑filled return and chose a CPF‑linked Pix key. The remaining contributors will receive their refunds according to the order of filing and processing.

Many taxpayers still experience delayed refunds due to incorrect bank data, closed accounts, invalid Pix keys, returns held in the tax audit (malha fiscal), or unclaimed payments. Refund status can be checked through the official Receita Federal portals “Consultar Restituição” or “Meu Imposto de Renda” using a Gov.br account. If a refund is approved but not deposited, the amount returns to the Bank of Brazil, and the taxpayer may request a new credit after correcting the banking information.
