Brazil's Receita Federal to Issue Special Automatic Income Tax Refund to Millions
The Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) announced a special batch of automatic income‑tax refunds, nicknamed “cashback,” for taxpayers who did not file a 2025 return but had tax withheld in 2024. The pilot will release about R$500 million to roughly 4 million people, with each eligible individual receiving up to R$1,000. Payments are scheduled for 15 July 2026 and will be transferred via a Pix key linked to the taxpayer’s CPF.
Eligibility can be checked in the Meu Imposto de Renda (MIR) portal starting 8 July 2026. The agency will generate simplified declarations automatically using data already in its systems; taxpayers can view the documents and make adjustments if needed. The special batch is separate from the regular IRPF restitution schedule and the agency warned that it will not request personal data or fees by email, phone, or messaging apps, urging recipients to beware of scams.
