Brazilian Government Warns Taxpayers to Register CPF‑Linked Pix Key for July Refund Payments

The Receita Federal has issued an alert that taxpayers who have not linked a CPF‑based Pix key to their bank account may miss a special income‑tax refund scheduled for July 15. Approximately four million people qualify for this pilot cash‑back program, with about 500,000 at risk of not receiving the deposit if they do not register a Pix key. The payment will be made exclusively through Pix to the CPF‑linked key; no other payment methods will be used.

The consultation of eligible recipients opens on July 8 via the agency’s portal or mobile app. The program targets low‑income individuals, many around 35 years old, as well as seniors aged 60, 65 and 70. In addition to this special batch, the regular tax‑refund calendar continues with the third tranche on July 31 and the fourth and final tranche on August 31. Priority in these later payments is given to taxpayers aged 80 or older, seniors from 60 years, people with disabilities or serious illness, teachers whose main income is from teaching, and those who opted for Pix refunds with a CPF key.
