Brazil's regional film festivals spotlight national shorts and Portuguese cinema

The Festival do Minuto began on 22 June 2026, launching a nationwide circuit that runs until 28 June across 160 venues in 104 Brazilian municipalities. The free programme shows a curated selection of the best short videos produced in 2025, including 52 audiovisual works from Brazil and abroad. In the Bragantina region, the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de São Paulo (IFSP) – Campus Bragança Paulista hosts hybrid sessions from 22‑26 June, offering both on‑site and online access. The event marks the 35th anniversary of the Festival and is sponsored by Caixa Econômica Federal and the Brazilian federal government.

Meanwhile, the Cinemateca de Curitiba will host a Portuguese cinema showcase from 25‑28 June 2026 as part of the Festival Camões de Cultura Lusófona. Curated by researcher Fernando Brito, the free series presents four contemporary Portuguese films – Colo, Vitalina Varela, Mal Viver and Viver Mal – highlighting themes of memory, family, and social change. The screenings are scheduled each evening at the museum’s São Francisco location.
