Campo Grande municipality trains staff on climate‑change adaptation and mitigation

The City Hall of Campo Grande held a 14‑hour hybrid training for municipal employees, civil‑defense personnel and members of the Municipal Climate Change Committee (Comec). The program was organized by the Secretariat of Administration and Innovation together with the School of Government, in partnership with the National School of Public Administration (ENAP). Participants received instruction on climate‑change mitigation and adaptation measures, the economic, social and environmental impacts of extreme events, and the role of municipalities in implementing climate policies.

Secretariat head Andrea Alves said the course “strengthens the technical capacity of municipal teams to plan prevention, adaptation and response actions.” The School of Government’s director Ramatilde Mendonça highlighted the urgency of climate education for public managers, while oceanographer Maria Carolina Chalegre Touceira of the Ministry of the Environment led the sessions. The training aims to improve the city’s ability to develop sustainable, resilient public policies.
