Brazil's Senar expands rural training, Senai creates eco‑brick from coconut waste

The National Rural Learning Service (Senar) in Amazonas held 12 professional rural training courses in June across eight municipalities—Apuí, Autazes, Boca do Acre, Borba, Manacapuru, Codajás, Itacoatiara and Careiro da Várzea—benefiting more than 160 producers and workers. Courses covered cattle, fish, poultry, fruit, irrigation, rural tourism, drone operation, fire management and basic aviculture. Senar Amazonas president Muni Lourenço said, “Each course represents more knowledge, more productivity and more opportunities for those who live and work in the field.”

In Maranhão, the National Industrial Learning Service (Senai), in partnership with Petrobras, is developing an ecological brick that incorporates liquid from green coconut husk, a polluting waste. The initiative, part of a bio‑economy project for Amapá, Pará and Maranhão, also turns coconut fiber into flour for bakery products. Tests are conducted at Senai’s accredited laboratory in São Luís, aiming to provide sustainable building materials for local communities and reduce environmental impact.
