Brazil's Superior Electoral Court approves international election observers
Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has confirmed the participation of several international observation missions for the upcoming elections. The missions aim to enhance transparency, integrity, and public confidence in the electoral process.
Approved organizations include the Organization of American States (OAS), the European Union, the Arab League, the Mercosur Parliament (Parlasul), the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) network, the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (Uniore), the World Network of Electoral Justice, and The Carter Center.
However, the TSE denied requests from at least two groups: 'Transparencia Electoral', based in Argentina, and the Spanish-based 'Eurolat Global Democracy Forum'. The court indicated that approved missions must be linked to recognized institutions such as universities or research centers.
In the upcoming vote, over 158 million Brazilians will elect representatives for six different positions, including president, governors, senators, and various legislative roles.
