Brazil's Electoral Court kicks off week on electronic voting security FAST-MOVING

The Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE) launched the first edition of the Semana Nacional do Sistema Eletrônico de Votação, a week‑long program running from 3 to 9 August 2026. The initiative includes a live broadcast on 3 August at 17:30 in which TSE technicians will open an electronic voting machine and explain each component, alongside demonstrations, lectures, exhibitions and other educational activities.

A new public‑information campaign called “Fato ou Boato – Viralizou” is being introduced to combat misinformation about the voting system. The week will close with a “Corrida Pela Democracia” race in Brasília on 9 August, aimed at encouraging popular participation in the democratic process.

The TSE says the program is intended to strengthen public confidence in the security, transparency and auditability of Brazil’s electronic voting system ahead of the first round of general elections on 4 October 2026, which will elect the president, governors, senators and deputies. A second round is scheduled for 25 October 2026 if no presidential or gubernatorial candidate obtains more than 50 % of valid votes.
