Brazil's Ministry of Finance launches interactive tax waiver transparency panel

The Ministry of Finance in Brazil released the Panel of Characterization of Tax Waivers, an interactive platform created by the Secretariat of Economic Policy (SPE) through the Subsecretariat of Fiscal Policy (SSPF). The tool consolidates data from the Declaration of Incentives, Renunciations, Benefits and Tax Immunities (DIRBI) and allows users to view tax waivers across different years and dimensions.

The panel uniquely integrates fiscal information with social, productive and environmental indicators, and links DIRBI data to the Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy (TSB) to assess alignment with sustainability goals. It is publicly accessible and accompanied by a methodological note, technical report and user guide to support researchers, public managers and policy makers in analysing the impact of tax incentives.

The initiative aims to increase transparency, improve monitoring of fiscal benefits and provide a quantitative basis for evaluating the social and environmental implications of Brazil’s tax waiver policies.
