Brazil's TSE grants PSOL-Rede access to party funds via vote rounding

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has unanimously decided that the PSOL-Rede federation met the performance clause requirements for the 2026 elections. The decision follows an administrative request to apply decimal rounding to election results.

While the federation exceeded the 2.5% national threshold for federal deputies, it fell short of the territorial requirement in Espírito Santo, recording 1.4912% instead of the mandatory 1.5% in the ninth required state. Relator Kassio Nunes Marques ruled that percentages exceeding 1.45% should be rounded up to 1.5% in accordance with Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) norms.

This ruling ensures the federation maintains access to the Party Fund, the Electoral Fund, and free airtime for political advertising on radio and television starting in the first half of 2027. The TSE also clarified that this rounding standard will be applied uniformly across the country.
